American Indoor record holder for the High School mile and teenage sensation Drew Hunter looks set to lead the way in the mens 3000m at the Letterkenny International Track & Field meeting this Friday night at 7pm. Hunter comes to Letterkenny with a host of American athletes along with Flynn Sports Management, which is run by Irishman Ray Flynn. In 2016, Hunter became only the 8th high school boy to run sub 4 minutes for the mile with a time of 3:58.25. He has improved on that mark this year, already running 3:56.80 and 7:51.90 for the 3000m, in which he will take to the line in Letterkenny.
Other challengers for the race will come in the form of the English duo of Patrick Dever and Alex Teuten who have 5000m PB’s of 13:59 and 13:56. Ireland’s charge will be led by Clonliffe Harriers AC athlete David Flynn who is now based in Letterkenny for training, and who just this month represented Athletics Ireland at the European Team championships. The action gets underway at the Danny McDaid Track, Aura Letterkenny Leisure Complex at 7pm on Friday night so get along for an action packed night of international athletics.
