Commonwealth Games silver medallist Meghan Beesley is the latest international addition to the Womens 400m Hurdles race at the Letterkenny International Track & Field Meeting which is due to take place this Friday night 7th July. Beesley won the silver medal as part of the English team in the 4 x 400m at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India. She is also a World Junior bronze medallist and European U-23 bronze medallist in the 400m Hurdles with a personal best of 54.52secs. Beesley just last weekend claimed the silver medal at the British championships running a seasons best of 56.68 secs, and will be coming to Letterkenny to chase the qualification standard of 56.10 secs for the World Athletics championships which are due to take place in the London Olympic Stadium in August.
Another last minute addition to the field will be African Games finalist Aisha Naibe-Wey from Sierra Leone. Already confirmed are Hayley McLean (England), Joanna Banach (Poland), Jean-Mare Senekal (South Africa) as well as Athletics Ireland athletes Christine Mc Mahon, Arlene Crossan, Kate McGowan and Laura Frey. What a race we might have in store for us in the womens 400m hurdles! The programme of 13 track & field events organised by Letterkenny AC gets underway at the Danny McDaid track, Aura Letterkenny Leisure Complex at 7pm so get along for a fantastic night of world class athletics for all the family to enjoy!
